Age and Emotion
Our research on Age and Emotion is
funded by the National Institute on Aging. We have initiated a series of
studies to investigate age differences and age-related changes in emotional
reaction, emotional regulation, and emotional understanding in samples of
young, middle-aged, and older adults. The centerpiece of this project is
the continuation of a longitudinal study of emotion regulation in long-term
marriages. Over the past decade, the Long-term Marriage project has
produced a wealth of information about the nature of marriage, about adult
emotional development, and about the relations among emotion, marriage, and
health (see our reference page).
