Age and Emotion
Our research on Age and Emotion is funded by the
National Institute on Aging. We have initiated a series of studies to
investigate age differences and age-related changes in emotional reaction,
emotional regulation, and emotional understanding in samples of young,
middle-aged, and older adults. The centerpiece of this project is the
continuation of a longitudinal study of emotion regulation in long-term
marriages. Over the past decade, the Long-term Marriage project has
produced a wealth of information about the nature of marriage, about adult
emotional development, and about the relations among emotion, marriage, and
health (see our reference page).
Dementia and Emotion
Our research here deals with Frontal Temporal Dementia
(FTD) patients. In our laboratory, we use basic behavioral research to
achieve a more comprehensive assessment of emotion, social behavior, and
personality in FTD and Alzheimer's Disease.
