The Emotion and Social Interaction Laboratory is directed by Professor Ann Kring, in the Department of Psychology at the University of California, Berkeley. Both graduate and undergraduate students work in conjunction with Professor Kring to make the lab a vibrant and busy place. We are located in Tolman Hall, room 4225 (click here for a campus map). 

Our research focuses on the linkage between emotional and social-cognitive processes and how they are (or are not) disrupted in different types of psychopathology (click here for a brief description of our ongoing projects). Much of our work has been aimed toward understanding emotion and cognition in schizophrenia. All of our work on emotion and social functioning in psychopathology relies heavily on understanding basic emotional processes. Thus, we also conduct research on fundamental issues in emotion research, including how gender, social context, and cognition influence the expression, experience, and physiology of emotion.
