Mission Statement:

Registered at University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley China Review (BCR) is a discussion group focusing on social, economic, and cultural issues related to China and China's development. BCR is a purely academic and interdisciplinary discussion group crossing social sciences, humanities, and science and technology related to social issues. It acts as a bridge linking students, faculty, scholars, and professionals who are interested in China and Chinese studies.

Students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars at the University of California, Berkeley, and professionals and scholars around the Bay Area who are interested in China and Chinese studies are welcome to join us.

Languages:

Our working language is mainly Chinese, but the publication is in English.

About the Speaker/Speakers :

Professor Hai Wen got his Ph.D. degree in economics from UC Davis at 1991. He is the Inchcape Professor of Economics of China Center for Economic Research (CCER) at Peking University. He is now a vice president of Peking University, and a vice director of CCER. His research fields are international economics and development economics.

Professor Hai has been a well-known scholar on economy and is currently served as a °Special Commentator at CCTV. He will be talking about the problems and difficulties Chinese economy has to deal with, and of course, what China should do to maintain the high speed of development in the upcoming years.
